How does the airport shuttle work?
Most private car parks are not next to the terminal, so they take you to the airport and back by shuttle – usually a minibus. This is what a typical trip looks like and what to watch out for.
Departure
When you arrive at the car park, you park or hand over the car, complete the paperwork and the shuttle takes you to the terminal. The ride depends on the car park’s location and the time of day, but the total time also includes waiting – so always leave a margin.
Coming back
After landing and collecting your luggage, you let the operator know in the way they ask (for example by phone) and the shuttle waits for you at the agreed meeting point. Ask about the meeting point and how to call the shuttle before you leave.
Free, 24-hour, child seat – separate questions
Of the 27 published private car park listings, 25 operators state that the shuttle is free, but only 17 have confirmed that the shuttle runs around the clock. Where we have no information you will see “Not verified” – this does not mean there is no night shuttle, only that you should ask.
We only mark child seats and accessible shuttles where the operator states them explicitly.
The official Relax Parking
Among the official car parks, Relax Parking is connected to the terminal by BUD’s shuttle bus; according to BUD, this takes 8–10 minutes. From the other official car parks you can walk to the terminal.
Questions to ask before booking
- How do I call the shuttle on my return, and where is the meeting point?
- How many passengers and how much luggage fit in one trip?
- How long is the wait at night or at peak times?
- What happens if my flight is delayed?
- Is the shuttle included in the parking fee?
